I'm horrible at CR and I was wondering what is the best prep book for passage based reading and paired passage based reading questions. I expect improvements(even just a little bit) within a month. Thanks.

Kaplan Critical Reading Workbook. It'll whip you into shape.

Mastering the SAT Critical Reading Test

PR, helped me go from sub 600 or 500 (I got a 490 once on a practice, usually ranging between mid 500 and low 600) to a big, 710

@Flare12345neo, what vocab did u do? only PR?

best book for cr is: the blue book or 10 real sats.

they are made by the maker, so practice with them will whip you into shape for the test.

DON'T use PR, kaplan, or barrons! they deviate from the test 100%. you'll never see those kind of questions on the real thing.

for vocab, I got 17/19 correct on the oct 4 one
I used some PR, but I used a lot more of Barron's vocab (not the mini dictionary but the flashcards that come in the back of the rvbk)
also, I used the mnemonic devices in Up Your Score.
Other than that, I just paid more attention to vocabulary in everyday situations.

I don't use prep books for CR.
Instead of a prep book start reading the NYtimes on a regular basis.
It uses sophisticated words (lots of them are on the SAT) and plus, you can double-click a word if you don't know what it means so that the definition will pop up in another window.

"Collegeboard The Official SAT Study Guide"

Took three timed, full practice tests, ended up with 760 in CR.

The idea's to practice general critical reading skill. Doesn't matter if the questions aren't the same as long as one's ability to read is sharpened.
