My CR score on the PSAT was pretty bad- lower 60s, I’m aiming for at least 700 for the May SAT (I’m a sophomore, so this will be my first time taking the SAT). CR seems to be my only problematic section on the SAT, so I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions for any workbooks! I looked up barrons, but it has mixed reviews on amazon and people here on CC don’t seem too fond of it as well. Anyone have any recommendations? I have the Kaplan 2013 full SAT, and it is very good and informative so far, with good explanations, so if anyone has any reviews on the Kaplan workbook, that would be great! Or if you found something that worked better, I’d love to hear. I’m pretty new to CC and I’m not sure what the general views on any SAT books are, so if you have any recommendations to those as well I’d greatly appreciate them! Sorry if my thoughts are out of place, I’ve been stressing about this all winter. Thanks so much!
Go with The Critical Reader by Erica Meltzer; its much better than the books you mentioned.
^Thanks! I’ll look into it.
I am thinking about purchasing the book the above commenter wrote about. I have a Barron’s CR book but I really don’t like it.
@southernbelle16 I was thinking of buying Barrons CR but I heard it was pretty bad. The only thing about the book above is that is it pretty pricey, even if you buy it used.
If the Critical Reader is too expensive, go to the website. A lot of the information from that book and her grammar book can be found for free.
