Which dorms do you think are the best at UVa?

i don’t think it matters cause we don’t get to choose

yea you can state a preference but you don’t get to choose anymore so the dorms can be more diverse

I was in old dorms my first year, Levebre (is that how they spell it? I don’t remember) to be exact. It was as rowdy as advertised, though I think my hallway was notoriously so even for Old Dorms reputation. That said, it was pretty much what I wanted out my first year experience, and I would absolutely live in old dorms if I could do it again. If you’re not really into the rowdy side of UVA, I’m sure there are old dorms and halls that tone it down some, but you’d probably like it a bit more in New Dorms.

Half of my friends were old dormers, the other half new dormers. But since it’s all kind of a crapshoot anyway, there’s not much point to saying what it is and what it isn’t going to be like for you if you go. I would say dorm life in your first year is much more governed by the laxness of your RA, and the people who live in your immediate area. But that isn’t just true of UVA, it’s pretty much what it’s like at 95% of schools out there.

In my opinion, Brown is the best dorm because the rooms are large and you have them to yourself. Also, in terms of location, it is right in the middle of the campus; how much better can this get? The downside is that you won’t have many first-years to mingle with, but if you like hanging out with upperclassmen, then Brown is a good choice.
