What are the best state universities in California for a social work degree?
I think the CSU’s are all fine. I am not sure specifically which CSU offers that degree. I believe some fields such as grade school teaching, the prestige of the college does not make much difference in social work.
Cal state LA is known to have a good program. Not sure how it compares to the other CSU’s.
San Jose and San Francisco both have excellent programs.
For graduate-level programs in social work, the highest ranked state universities in California (according to US News and World Report) are UC Berkeley and UCLA. They are followed by San Diego State, Cal State LA, San Francisco State, San Jose State, and Long Beach State, and then by other CSUs.

As far as I know, nobody ranks the undergraduate programs. Most CSU undergraduate social work programs, including the five listed above, are impacted.

just about any of them will be fine for this program. It is a silly exercise to rank them without knowing your qualifications. Assuming you have the stats, go to the school that will deliver the student experience you are looking for. That is where you will perform best and open doors fro grad school, (almost a requirement for your field) CSU campuses vary so widely … do you want to be among the redwoods on the North Coast, in a somewhat isolated college town, in a major urban center?
What are your stats and what are you looking for from your college experience?
