I just committed to Boulder as an Integrated Physiology major. I want to do my housing applications soon, but I don't know what to pick, and since I will be living there, I want to make sure I know the details. I will give you some of my traits:
I am a science major, but I would like to do a dance minor as well
I am a very social outgoing person, but not really a partier (drinker/smoker), so I don't want the most wild and crazy dorm on campus haha
I get really good grades.
The more renovated the better. I know that depending on the dorm, I would be in either a double room with a private bath or a triple room with a private bath.

The 4 dorms I am deciding between are Baker, Farrand, Libby, and Willard.
Which dorms would you recommend out of these? Also, I hear Libby doesn't have any lounges or anything. Is this true?

My son, now a junior, lived in Baker his freshman year and enjoyed it. You do know it is a RAP and that you have to be a member of the RAP to live there don’t you? It involves an extra fee per year and you get to take some classes in the dorm. Libby and Baker are right next door to one another and Libby has a dining hall while Baker does not .My son would always eat his breakfast in Libby. Farrand is supposed to be nice, I do not know anything about Williard. Also, unless they changed things in those dorms, I believe Baker has only communal bathrooms and none that have private baths.

I would choose Baker as #1. Baker has really good size rooms (much bigger than Libby’s!!) And alot of the rooms in Baker have 2 windows, which is really nice. The Lobby area and hallways of Baker are much more “grand” and inviting than Libby’s.

That said, Libby does have a dining hall on it’s main floor which is convenient for it’s residents who can literally walk downstairs for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Baker and Libby are right next to each other, in the heart of campus (across from the main hangout area - farrand field). The dining hall at Libby is open to all so if you live in Baker you can easily walk 100 feet to Libby and chow down.

Farrand has always been known to be the most coveted, they tend to fill up the quickest. I have never been in Farrand but it is the “prettiest” on the outside.

I’d go with Baker #1 and Libby/Farrand #2/3 if I were you!

My daughter is a freshman and lives in Baker and loves it. According to her, Baker is being torn down at the end of the year and redone. Libby and Farrand would be great choices.

A lot of people said Kittredge wasn’t as nice as the main campus dorms - that couldn’t be further from the truth! All the Kittredge dorms have been recently renovated; they have nice bathrooms and the dorm rooms are way better than on main campus. Kittredge does have less of the partying (which sounds like something you want) as all the dorms in Kittredge have RAPs. The walls of the dorms are also thicker, so you don’t have to wear earplugs to get sleep (as I’ve heard some people do who live on main campus or will vill).
I personally live in Buckingham which is the Communication Rap, although I am an engineer. There are classes that appeal to a variety of majors. The students are generally more academically focused than those living on main campus, but they aren’t “nerdy” and everyone is very friendly. There are lots of (optional) social events in the common areas that my hall has so that we get to know each other.
Many of the rooms have private bathrooms in Kittredge. I have a single with a personal bathroom and I love it! I suggest you consider Kittredge, its on campus and quite close to main campus. Everyone I’ve talked to really likes living there.
