Best Dorms?

I recently got accepted into Boulder as an Honors student, and am interested in living in Kittredge as part of the Honors RAP. However, I do want to party in college, and plan to strike a good balance between studying and socializing. Will the location of the dorm and the kids in it keep me from having that? Is it worth living on main campus and missing out on the RAP?

The honors RAP is actually located in Smith hall, and it is by far the best dorm on campus.

Main campus is better if you want to party. It is closer to the Hill and sororites and fraternities. But you also deal with more noise, barf in the bathrooms, etc. Kittredge is quieter but it is a long walk to the parties. Every dorm has a unique flavor. Smith houses Honors but is very academic and can be too geeky and awkward for those who want to be more social. Buckingham is smaller and has a really tight community vibe but it is the furthest from the hill. You’ll stand out if you are a hard core partier. Arnett has some social activism stuff going on. Kitt West has a lot of pre-meds and wanna be pre-meds. So there is a lot of studying but also a lot of angst over not doing well in the science courses. The important thing is to pick a vibe that’s right for you and don’t pick just based on location. They all have websites and facebook pages. There are RAP programs in some of the main campus dorms also.

When you’re in Boulder, you get used to walking everywhere. The additional 5-10 minutes it takes to walk to the Hill is by far worth it when you meet smart, determined, and friendly people in your dorm. Take my word for it, I got accepted into Smith’s Honors RAP as well and went into Sewall instead, and I seriously regret it. I’m on the wait list for moving in to Smith…
