Hey so I’ve been given the opportunity to live in the honors dorm and take part in the honors RAP in smith hall. I have heard that Smith is a pretty nice dorm, but I was wondering what the reputation of people in the dorm is like? do all the “nerds” live there with no social life? I am pretty serious about academics but I also plan on having a very avid social life at Colorado.
Bumping this up because my son was invited to the honors program and is also curious. Do many honors students opt NOT to live in Smith? What are the pros and cons?
My son currently lives in Kittridge Central. He is in Engineering. He really likes the dorm and the location. Smith is close to Kittridge. My daughter got into the Honors Program for next year. But it looks like (if she ends up attending), that she will pick a different dorm, mainly because of the classes offered in the Honors RAP (different from Honors Program Classes). I recommend you go to the website and review the RAP (Residential Academic Program) classes in the dorm that you are interested in. Many of the dorms that you live in have a RAP associated with it, and you are required to take 1 class in the RAP each semester. My daughter is interested in Natural Sciences/Pre-Med, and is looking at Baker (Natural Sciences RAP) and Kittridge West (Health Professions RAP). But, to answer your question, I don’t really think the Honors RAP will be full of nerds. There are plenty of smart, outgoing, social kids who will be there.
