Hello, my daughter will be starting in the fall and we are having a hard time choosing dorms. She will be an engineering student but does not want to stay primarily in a engineering based dorm, She wants to be close to the engineering complex, but she does want a building that has been renovated and where she just shares a bathroom with a few other girls. We visited a few weeks ago, but we only had time to see the one residence hall on the tour… Any suggestions would be great!! Thanks
Look at Global Engineering. She will need to fill in an application. Its the most supportive RAP on campus, for women in engineering.
Thanks for the reply. She doesn’t want to join that rap, as she lacks in the 2nd language dept. She is thinking about either the Honors RAP in Smith or Kitt central? Do you have any info on these 2 dorms?
Hi! The honors rap in Smith i have heard is amazing. I’ve going to be a Freshman next year so i’ve done a lot of research on dorms. Arnett is also a good choice because it’s a little off from Kit so it doesn’t feel as constricted, plus it has a Global studies RAP which is has a good reputation.
What do you think of Willard? I read it was renovated, looks some what close to the center of campus.
@phallen I think the students who live at Global Engineering have morphed away from speaking in any other language, but there is an essay that must be filled in, in Spanish, French,German etc. I would say Global Engineering is a similar living group to Honors Engineering, serious engineering students, who study more than party. But any freshman dorm is fine at CU I think for a motivated student. All RAPs are gender balanced, so girls in engineering are more likely to get accepted than boys, as there are double to triple the applications from boys on a typical year.
