Best engineering degree for patent law?

I'm currently a high school senior with plans to attend law school and eventually pursue a career in patent law. I'm deciding between majoring in biomedical, chemical, or industrial engineering. I want to work for either a biotech company (ex: Pfizer, Novartis) or a technology company (Google, Microsoft). Which major would be most advantageous?

I would first look into how much those companies hire lawyers to do the kind of work that interests you. If they do, I would look at the bios of the people doing the kind of work you want. What degrees do they have? If you can’t find them, look for analogs in the private sector.

These days, the best undergrad degrees for the IP scene in terms of hiring are Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I do not know to what degree these people are staffed onto biotech projects. A good way to find out would be to find a lawyer at a firm with a CS/EE background and send them an email. They’ll be happy to respond.
