Best Florida School for PreMED Undergrad?

Been accepted into Florida Poly but they have only engineering. Was rejected from UF but I am going to appeal because I am pretty sure they completely overlooked the fact that a family death impacted my grades last year. Waiting on USF, UCF, and FGCU for admission. I want to become a dermatologist. Which of these have the best med programs for undergrad? Is there one that has a good balance of education and social life? I didn’t apply to FSU because I hate Tallahassee with a burning passion and would never be caught dead living near Rick Scott. Anyway, all help is appreciated!

Ruling out UF and FSU, I would have to say Miami, USF and UCF are your best choices as they are all affiliated with a medical school. USF is building a new med school building in downtown Tampa which has sparked interest there.

Re-post after you have all of your choices. Unlikely that appeal will work.

What are your stats?

It really doesn’t matter which one. There’s no such thing as “premed program”. Being premed just means taking REGULAR classes…bio, chem, physics, calc…nothing special. If you prefer, attend one that has a med school, but even that isn’t required or that important.

Oh good heavens. What are you going to do if only FSU accepts you for med school or their Dermo residency? not go??? lol

USF, UCF are the stronger of the schools that you have not yet heard from. Med schools look for a high GPA and high MCAT scores. Any schools where you can take classes with strong science programs and attain a high GPA is all that you need. The undergrad. schools do not need to be affiliated with med schools. Since it appears that you are a Florida student, you have some good state university choices left that are affordable. Best of luck.
