I have only been to DeGraff once, but the tunnel is not as bad as people make it. I don’t even know if I would consider it a legitimate tunnel…it’s more of a little walk-way. It’s also well lit. Obviously, you shouldn’t be walking around anywhere at night alone, including through the ‘tunnel’.

And one other thing I forgot to mention about Deviney…last summer they installed brand new carpet (the only dorm on campus with carpet, I believe) and it is great!

if she is going to rush a sorority then being in the less social east side dorms wouldn’t matter as much. My son rushed a fraternity and has made friends through it rather than in his dorm.

Really? Do you never go out at night? It’s been like that 9/11 times I’ve been there (all at night and usually on the weekend). But like I said, the tunnel really isn’t that bad so I agree with you on that.

I’ve had friends who’ve lived in Degraff. And yes, going home they’d sometimes run into creepies/hobos who would hang around the gate. No matter where you live don’t be too intimated to use the SAFE bus! The upside to degraff is the prime location next to McDonald’s ;)

Rest assured, there is nothing “unsafe” about the rape tunnel; it’s just a joke because of its appearance. Housing actually refers to it as a safe tunnel, because it is so heavily monitored by housing’s surveillance cameras, that anyone would be an idiot to commit a crime in there.

If your kid is living in Degraff, I’d be more concerned about the Freshman (Insert large number here) they could potentially gain from being so close to Mac D’s.

My DD loves Wildwood, it’s one of the newest. She’s in the Social Justice LLC and half the LLC is in a sorority. Her LLC class is either once or twice a week. Her floor is very social, they often do things like Taco Tuesday, Waffle Wednesday and study/go out together. If you get the chance visit it.

I’m in Bryan this year and I absolutely love it. I got deffered so my priority number was really high. Many people I’ve met in this dorm were denied on-campus housing, but applied for this LLC and found out a week before school started that they got in. There really isn’t any time consuming extra activities for being in the LLC. We have monday night colloquiams where different professors from different departments come and talk to us for about an hour. We had to take 3 notes on a piece of paper and write three essays, but that’s it. It was an easy way to get one extra credit hour. We also have to take a class inside the dorm, which is SO convenient. Plus, the rooms are pretty nice. I was lucky enough to have a triple sized room with only two people in it, and it’s even bigger than my friends’ rooms in Degraff and Wildwood. It’s an awesome location (right next to suwannee!) and close to where most of the freshman classes will be. You do have to have a meal plan since it’s right next to the dining hall.
