<p>Summer Housing just opened I got a priority number of 118....funny my fall is 109.

<p>Any info would be appreciated. Im planning on joining sorority and this is for Summer C, so should I change the housing preferences based on that info.......I am female.</p>
<p>You won’t be joining the Sorority until Fall semester, but Gilchrist is the closest residence hall to the sorority houses.</p>
<p>East side is the best side location wise if you want to be in close proximity to your Sorority house, but all with the exception of Dorman, Diviney, and Degraff (Degraff isn’t really that close to the houses) require mealplans. You will probably regret this when you have to buy a mealplan through your sorority as well.</p>
<p>Wow, so if I join a sorority in the fall I will have to buy a mealplan from them also. How expensive is that.</p>

My old roommate was in a soroity, and we lived in broward. She had a meal plan through the sorority, so the dining hall gave her a deal or somthing. I am sure they talk about that at rush.
Also all the dorms you picked for summer are great. I would just not live in degraff, you have to go through the tunnel and eh.</p>
<p>Oh, is it dangerous? It seems like the nicer dorms require a meal plan and the not so nice dont require a meal plan. How bad is the food and is the meal plan just a waste of $$$$'s.</p>
<p>I think I remember reading somewhere that meal plans were not mandatory in summer, but you may want to check with housing.</p>
<p>Sorority rush is the week before Fall term starts, so your summer housing selections will not be impacted.</p>

<p>On the detailed information page, each chapter breaks down what their dues cover. The figures are probably for this year, so dues maybe slightly different next year.</p>
<p>My daughter pledged a sorority and lives in a meal required dorm. Dining services offers a reduced meal plan to sorority members with mandatory meal plans. Also, my daughter sorority gave her a discount for having a required meal plan. I do not know if all sororities do that. But even with both discounts, we are paying more than if she lived in a different dorm.</p>
<p>As for the meal plan itself, my daughter rarely uses it. She really does not like the food at Suwannee.</p>
<p>There are a lot of trade-off here. My daughter is in a east-side dorm, which is a great location for her classes and the sorority house, but the mandatory meal plan is a negative.</p>
<p>I agree with everything wallacefl says. My daughter has lived in Landis for two years now and is going to choose another dorm next year because of the meal plan. We buy the smallest one available, but she never uses all of her meals and doesn’t like the food. Most of her friends from high school who pledged sororities chose to live in Wildwood to avoid the required meal plan and were happy with their decisions. Hghschjunior, since you have such a great priority number I’m sure that could be an option for you. However, as everyone here has said, the location is best with the dorms that require meal plans. You’ll just have to figure out what is most important to you.</p>
<p>The food is not horrible, they have some good stuff. But it is a dining hall and it has good days and bad days just like anything else.</p>
