So where do you/your parents stay when they come to College Park? We've been staying at the Marriott. I love the location, but it is a bit pricey. I've seen some other hotels in areas around the university that don't seem as nice. (Part of my concern is how safe my car will be packed full of stuff the night before move in day!)

If you are very concerned about your valuables being stolen in the night, you could bring them into your hotel room (things such as laptop, ipod, etc).

We’ve had great experiences at the Holiday Inn in Greenbelt. I tried to send you a PM but it said your PM box was full. Let me know when you clear it…I’ve got some add’l info for you.

We also stay at the Holiday Inn at Greenbelt. If you use Hotwire, you can get a really good rate. We were up there for Mothers Day weekend and stayed for $59/night. We stayed at the Marriott during move-in weekend and the room was claustrophobic. The Holiday Inn rooms are much bigger.

My favorite has always been the Quality Inn by Plato’s Diner south of campus. I like it because it’s walking distance to the uni and you can really get a feel for the town. Also, there’s free breakfast, yum :). I guess the rooms are kind of small, though I thought it was modern and clean…but I don’t think I’d trust the car in the lot with valuables in sight. Then again, I wouldn’t really trust it anywhere in the area. Car thefts are probably one of the biggest crime problems in College Park.

The Quality Inn isn’t too bad, but I would certainly request one of the rooms in the (newer) 4/5-story building (“tower”), not the outer 2 story building. The walking-distance location is good, but if you will have and use a car anyway, I’d still go for one of the Greenbelt choices.
