Best housing in terms of BATHROOM situation?!

I'll be going to northwestern next year (yay) and im considering housing at this point. I wanna live in the south campus and i've pretty much narrowed down to:
Chapin, CRC, Willard, Allison, Hinman

Among these though, which have the best bathroom situation? as in how many people share one bathroom, how clean and nice they are, how well they are maintained, etc...

it's an important matter to me... :P haha

Any suite style living is likely the best- that gives you more bathrooms per person. So that gives you CRC, and Hinman. But that’s just conjecture.

1835 Hinman-8 ppl share a bath in a suite

Less people share bathrooms in suites, but the bathrooms are smaller. IIRC some bathrooms in CRC suites only had one shower, which is less than ideal. I’d take a Willard or Allison (bigger bathroom with more showers and more people to share with) over that any day.

you may want to contact an industrial engineeing/management science major to apply queueing theory and tell you what the average wait time is in different dorms.

I used to live in 1835 Hinman. I thought that dorm was pretty nice. There’s a cafeteria on the first floor.

If you’re male, you may not always have a clean suite. (No offense, men, but sometimes you just trash the place.)

Who cleans the bathrooms - in a suite (like Hinman) - is it the students responsibility??

If the bathrooms are for anyone - say hallway showers and baths - who cleans them??

Thanks

I will be a freshman in the CAS (bio major). Which dorms should I request? and why?
There are soo many choices. Any help/guidance will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

There are custodial staff in all university housing who clean the bathrooms.

by the way, how are the men/women divided? by suites? by floors? only by rooms?

How many ppl, on average, share one bathroom in Allison and Willard? I visited Allison one time and i remember freaking out cuz an entire hallway (which seemed very long) had to share one bathroom. Does it get too crammed ever?

bump :)

The larger dorms tend to have larger bathrooms divided by gender on each floor. You may have up to 20 girls sharing one girls’ bathroom. The suite-style dorms have more personal bathrooms (up to 4 in some dorms; up to 8 in other dorms). If you want more privacy, go with a suite-style dorm.

Tenisghs, which dorms are considered suit-style? Are they only the Residential Colleges?

JBM, browse the on-campus undergraduate housing descriptions below. If the description states “suite”, you want to consider those places. Next, you need to think about where you want to live: North Campus or South Campus? (My advice is to pick where most of your classes will be held during the year.)

Okay, so only Slivka and 1835 Hinman are suite-style? What exactly is the difference between a suite style dorm and a regular dorm?

Umm, no. Slivka, 1835 Hinman, PARC, ISRC, CRC are all suite style.

Here is a suite style dorm’s floor plan to give you an idea. Only Kemper (upperclassmen only) is a true suite style. For the ones listed above, it’s just that the hallway is segmented by swining doors, with alternating segments of different genders (except on the first floor of CRC/ISRC, where the “winsgs” are gender seperated, and the rest of ISRC, where genders are completely mixed within the non-1st floor suites.) Each suite shares a bathroom (in ISRC, the bathrooms are gendered, meaning you may have to go a few extra feet for your bathroom). In each segment is a large common room which is called the suite, which houses couches and a table.

Ok, got it. Thanks for the clarification.

Sorry, HERE is a floor plan:

One more question, are the bathrooms in Slivka coed?
