Best internet provider?

Yo,

I'm going to be moving into an apartment soon and the four of us are looking for an Internet provider (we don't want cable or telephone so we're not interested in the package deals) and so far we've only really looked at Comcast & AT&T.

Would you guys share your experience with the two in the Berkeley area? What's the best deal? Can we get something better elsewhere? We'll have the apartment for probably two years so we're looking for something with a good deal over time.

Woot woot, thanks.

If you guys like to commandeer items using the internet, I’d suggest AT&T.

Never get AT&T. Ever ever ever ever ever ever.

Well, AT&T is cheaper … but I have Comcast cable at home and it’s pretty good. Ah decisions.

bumping in hopes of more replies

If it helps, I’m going to live on Northside, near Tolman.

oh hey that’s where I live. we have comcast cable and internet. internet is annoying at times but it’s usually pretty good.

Which package do you have, flutterfly?

If you just want internet, AT&T would be cheaper over 2 years.

It was $74.99 for 6 months and is now ~$120/month for cable and internet. Pretty expensive but worth it for us.

AT&T is cheaper and they don’t send out annoying “breach of copyright” emails like Comcast does.

But, otherwise I would choose comcast

never get comcast.

Wow I did not know that Internet was this expensive over here. I remember fios back at home costing much less than that and probably being much faster. Feeling pretty suck that I’m moving out.

Sonic.net – amazing support and 40$ for a 20/1 package.
