If there was one language (other than English) that you wanted to learn, what would it be an why?

Latin because its tied to so many other ("new-age") languages and it is used in so many professions (i.e. Law).

:)

Welsh. I have a special interest in languages that are dying out in there own countries, particularly the celtic languages (breton, welsh, irish, scottish, manx) :p

i would love to learn french. seems as if everyone is speaking it.

SPANISH SPANISH SPANISH!!!

ok i'm biased but A LOT of people speak spanish. and i would think that it might be the easiest to learn of the Romance languages.

also ITALIAN and i guess LATIN just for the fact that its the "root of everything".

I think Japanese and Chinese are both wonderful languages to learn.

spanish...

Italian. Very emotional language. Sounds awesome.

Hm, one language...hard to say. I'd learn French because it opens up more job possibilities in Canada, and Mandarin so I could communicate with my relatives (at this point I can listen, but not speak, and my writing and reading skills are limited) and for more job opportunities.

french!!!!

I bought a cassette tape on how to speak Scots Gaelic a while back, I basically learned the equivalent stuff of the first semester of Spanish I

If your going to do Business DO NOT take SPANISH. Take something useful like German, Chinese, Japenese or Russian. Take Spanish is if you want to talk to illegal immigrants and adapt to them so they wont have to learn English. lol

is learning German Chinese and Japanese all are great

French because its beautiful, Arabic because its a good thing for job opportunities, German just because it sounds cool

I would go with French because I like to travel, and there are loads of french speaking countries. There are countries in Africa and all over that have french as their official languages.

Chinese because economically it's going to be extremely important
Arabic because it's befitting of the times and it's also VERY sexy. lol...

i speak chinese and japanese :)

I think in the next few years Mandarin (chinese) will become the most important second language to know. Especially for those that will be doing business.

china's rising as an economic power soon enough. although it lags behind the US by about 50 years, it's catching up very fast. Mandarin (not chinese, since chinese covers local dialects too) is going to be a business language.

Latin because it ties in with every language, and makes it much easier to learn another romance language.
