Sony Vaios

Are they even worth it? i'm primarily looking at the SZ models, but any other model would be fine as long as it is good. any suggestions. I hear dells are pretty inexpensive, but they tend to not fare so well in the long run. help please

they sound pretty damned good on paper

Sony laptops are amazing however, I'd argue that you can get a Lenovo same quality, for a lower price.

They are nice but way too expensive.

If my parents were footing the bill I wouldn't hesitate, but if I had to pay for it I'd definitely get something else.

"Sony laptops are amazing however, I'd argue that you can get a Lenovo same quality, for a lower price."

From what I've heard Lenovo's quality (Thinkpad division) is definitely better than those of Sony's.

they f*ing rock! i saved a ton of $ so i could buy one for next year (college), and was suprised to find out that my dad (whom i do not live with) would buy me any one that i wanted. Now i can spend that 2K on something else :D

i picked a customized FE model, and should get it in a couple of weeks. but like scarletleavty said, i would think carefully about if you are paying for it (i think they are awesome, and are much much better quality than dells)

I was looking at the FE model, and it seems very good, but the graphics card sucks. I guess this doesn't matter if you're not a gamer, but for someone like me, I need a good graphics card. So I went ahead and bought the Dell e1705. It has solid build quality, an excellent screen, a top of the line graphics card, and the top of the line everything else, for $2500 with an extended 3 year warranty. I would highly recommend the Dell.

You could have just gotten a cheap laptop, and do a custom build desktop for gaming lol.

sony support sucks, and their products do to,

Sony vaios are great. my mom bought one two years ago and it still works like brand new. Get one of the new colored ones, they're pretty too. :)

If you want to save money, buy Dell. If you want good build quality buy Lenovo (I think).

My sony died and sony support stinks. Lots of others have better service and do great things. HP, Dell, Toshiba, etc.

Just to give a different opinon, I have had great support from Sony. My computer was acting really slow and after a few tests, they were out AT MY HOUSE the next day replacing nearly the entire inside of the laptop. It works great now.

... that's better service than I've gotten from Dell.

yea with mine i got a 4 year, onsite (they will come to your house) warranty that covers normal wear and accidental damage...that sounds good to me

You better think what you are going to do with your laptop before buying a Sony Vaio. I don't have a Sony Vaio laptop, but I do have the desktop version. It burned a deep $2000 hole in my wallet. Guess how I used my precious desktop? Yeah, word documents most of the time, and a little bit of gaming. Maybe I shouldn't have bought a fancy one when a regular would do it.

On the other hand, my cousin has Sony Vaio laptop. Don't know what and how he used his desktop, but he really liked it.

I actually think onsite is not so good, due to mist technicians being contrators, and if they screw up yout PC then your screwed.

I'm typing this on a Vaio, and my dad has a Vaio laptop. Great stuff. Sony screws alot of stuff up, but their PCs and Laptops are excellent.

i have a sony vaio fs 742/w laptop, and it was a good price and had what i needed and works awesome

i have a sony desktop and it's awesome. my roommate had a sony laptop and hasn't had any problems with it, it's about two years old.

i have a toshiba laptop and it's a great.. and they're very nicely priced.

a lot of people seem to have problems with dells, however maybe that's because more people have them... regardless, if you get a dell make sure you extend your warranty.

Sony Vaios are hyped. Nothing too special. Theyre over priced. I'd go with Lenovo or Apple anyday.
