thx :)

How much are you planning to spend?

Don't waste your money on a Mac unless you plan on getting into art and design work.

i've been wondering the same thing...ive only ever used windows, and i'm leaning toward getting another dell...are macs really that good?

Yes, they really are that good.

I think it's best to go with the model supported by your college's technical spot.

Usually a mac and a PC model are supported. It's really up to person opinion, unless you want to reignite the mac vs. PC war on this thread.

I highly recommend that you get a Windows laptop. Although Apple offers quality products and it is the current cultural trend, you may not be able to run the necessary software. You are guaranteed to run all the software you will ever use in college on a Windows laptop whhen the university hands out software for uses in specific classes or in general. If you have a MAC, sometimes buying the MAC version of the software, assuming the installation is only for Windows, can be costly or it might not even exist. This is the main reason why I bought a Windows PC. Another reason is that the hardware is cheaper. Also, Windows on the new Macs are not stable.

This doesn't belong in the college admissions forum.

Go with what you're most used to / like more.

Use the search feature.....tons of threads on this

My opinion--get a Mac

Dells are b.a.d.

Get A Mac. Also get Parallels which allows you to run multiple operating systems. Then you can have a PC & Mac on a Mac laptop.

I like Dells. The Dell Inspiron Sucks, but the Latitudes are great.

Don't get a Mac unless you need OSX. Otherwise just get a PC with Vista and then either load Ubuntu + Beryl shell on a partition or install CygWin (POSIX emulation layer) if you need to do any *NIX work. I'm not saying that OSX is bad, but Macs are not worth the cost.

NotTheStereotype is right. Get a Mac and Parallels. It's the best of both worlds so all the compatibility issues are solved. Plus, you get photobooth! (Sorry. I'm very much an apple person.)

Get the Macbook, like someone has already mentioned earlier you can run multiple operating systems with Parallels, and Windows with VMware.

MACBOOK
Macs are easy to use, and a lot less likely to fall apart than a windows, and with parallels you will have no compatability issues. Wonderfull.

Get a macbook...the price premium should pay for itself over the life of the computer since macs last longer, don't require $40 subscriptions to norton, and other crap. And it comes with no bloatware.

macbooks are overrated, just like another apple product (ipod, cough cough... There are much better mp3 players that store more music, have more features, and feature better music)

We get it. You hate apple products. Fine. Go take your money somewhere else and get over it.

hp dv2000t or hp dv6000t, they're sexy and relatively cheap and better than a mac and runs vista and has aero and is compatible with virtually all software and hardware because they're not macs. i'm using a hpdv2000t right now
