Does anyone have suggestions for convenient and easy-to-deal-with banks with ATMs on or near the Wes campus?

A ton of students have Bank of America accounts; it's the only one with an ATM on campus (in the campus center, currently)

Thanks, Madjoy!

I guess I will have to forgive Bank of America for "losing" data tapes with all my personal info on them, along with thousands of other people.

ACK, I don't know if I like the sound of that :-/

Yeah... Bank of America generally seems pretty evil and attempting-to-take-over-the-country-in-banking and all that... that said, they're pretty darn convenient :P

Hahahahahha!

ugh, please do NOT get bank of america. they're such a terrible life-sucking conglomerate. i have an account with them and i hate it so much. i've had so many problems and... ugh. yeah. avoid. also, the atm in the campus center doesn't take deposits, which makes it basically useless.

also, WAIT til you get here to open an account. it can be a huge problem if you do it in another state, as i found out this year. they also often have cool promos for wes students.

liberty bank is my recommendation. i think it's a pretty small, connecticut-based bank. there's a branch on main street, and they never charge any atm fees at all (and will refund you the other bank's fee if you use a different atm), so you could still get cash at the campus center without having to go down the hellish route that is bank of america.

Thanks, Jumble. Your advice seems sound and we will wait.

If you hate BoA there's a Wachovia right near Wesleyan.

is there a wachovia atm on campus?

no, currently the only one is bank of america. none of the other banks is very far away, but wachovia is probably the farthest (10-15 minute walk, maybe).
