Best Mail Order Care Packages?

Food or other, all suggestions appreciated.

If only Trader Joe had a mail order service......

The best care package is the one that you make up yourself!

Well during the winter I used Hales twice to send Honey Bell oranges to my son. He loved them! I sent those last winter bc I know he won't buy fresh fruit on his own, and probably won't eat much fruit in the dining hall. A CC poster told me about Hales.

Also, someone on CC posted that you can order from various vendors (ie: Harry and David) through Costco online and there is no shipping charge. They add 5% for non-members.

As franglish suggests, many make their own care packages. I have done that. There are a lot of past threads about that. I loved the suggestion someone had about sending various apples, an apple slicer, dip, and other fall things.

The only one I know of is Hip Kits, which I used once when I was feeling lazy. Good, but expensive.

When I visited during Family Weekend, I also checked out the local bakeries for birthday cakes and other goodies.

Make your own at Netgrocer - Online Groceries and more, delivered straight to your door!. No fancy packaging just their favorite food items!

From-mom.com or carepackagesbymom.com was a service my sister used. I can't remember which or if I have the address exactly right. Goggle and see what their websites look like. But she was pleased.

sunnyflorida, I just wanted to thank you for the Hales suggestion last year! My son loved his 2 shipments of Honey Bells!

My mom used to send me popcorn buckets from the Popcorn Factory. She still does every once in a while, more than a year after I've graduated. :) My friends and I really appreciate them.

How about gift cert from restaurants near student, and maybe booze and condoms? Well, gift certificates, anyway.

NE Mom--Thanks for the thanks. I still personally love to eat Hales citrus. And I know that I can depend on the quality.

We will be ordering again this year. Both of my sons have already asked if I would order again this year!

I must admit I enjoy making up my own care packages. I find the things that each individual kid likes. (I have three in college) I try to include food and fun little gifts, like stuff for stockings. It makes me feel closer to the kids. Also, many of the "ready to order" packages have items my kids do not like.

Last year I mixed up my S and D's package. (D2 was a senior in hs, so not yet at college) They each opened their respective "wrong" packages and thought "uh, what is wrong with Mom?" It was a good laugh. But the packages were that different.

I sent care packages from several different places. All were well received. :)

I think some of you mom's with baking talent and time should go into business making custom care packages for the kid's of those of us with neither. No one has to know! We'll provide the note and the return address. All willing participants PM me!!

My son's roommate's mom left them with a lot of homemade treats I could never create. He looked so jealous!

I've used HipKits and they are fine, but S enjoys getting a drugstore dot com care package more...toiletries, sundries, snacks and even things like Thai noodles. I also confess that sometimes I send him clothes or books ordered online...I just miss him so much.

Make up your own, then you are not wasting money or time, and when it arives the person is not going, why was I sent this, I don't like it. Suggestions, food and gift cards (starbucks, Ddonut, Coldstone, etc.)

A southern Season has great packages.
I tend to either send theirs or make my own.
Sometimes the schools will make birthday cakes for you and deliver to your student.
