Best Majors to Seek

I keep reading that it depends on which major you choose if you want a better chance of getting in to UT. What might be unrepresented majors?

Im not particularly sure, but i think geosciences is pretty under-represented.. but it really doesn't matter in general.

Yeah you probably won't get into McCombs with out great stats, but if you get rejected from them, you still can get put in undeclared if they feel you are smart enough to be in the school.

the hardest majors to get into are engineering and business.
in my opinion, underrepresented would be teaching, nursing? although i heard this isnt true anymore, and geosciences sounds right too

You are about half right when it comes to applying to underrepresented majors. although yes some majors are a lot more difficult to get into, UT considers your top two major choices before deciding whether to stick you in undeclared or summer. So if don't get any of your choices, you don't necessarily get rejected from the university. The other side of this argument is that if your first choice major is what you really want to do and put something like education as your second choice major, you can get pretty easily. It does happen quite a bit and those people transfer out of education and into the major that they want. both options are very probably ways of getting into UT. The most stress free method of getting in (most of the time) is just the plain old top 10% rule
