Admissions to U Texas and SMU

I'm not quite sure how i stand as far as my chances to getting into these schools. I am a California resident, my overall GPA is 3.97 (weighted) and rank is 60/730. I've been an athlete all 4 years and got a 1280 on the SAT (not counting writing).

My concern is that i feel i can get in as an undeclared major but i am interested in business/accounting and i'm not sure if putting that down as my major would jeopardize my admissions chances.

Any thoughts?..

I know that McCombs at UT is a four year program. You'd probably want to apply to it directly although admissions is more selective than if you're an undeclared major. I don't know how difficult it would be to transfer to the business school from the general university after your freshman year.

If you want to apply to McCombs, I'd recommend bringing up your SAT score to at least a 1350 since you are already at a disadvantage as an out of state student. Also, don't forget about writing; this is the first year UT will consider it!

Good luck...
