Best Non-Science Summer Programs

So I know that I am applying to TASP this December, but obviously I need some back-ups. I'm looking for the best programs that either accept people who haven't had a chance to do science research yet or don't have to do with science at all. They don't necessarily have to be the typical "TASP backup," I'm okay with just about any field (math, science, philosophy, writing etc.). I only made the title "Non-Science" because obviously I can't get into something like RSI without any scientific accomplishments.

May I suggest the Clark Scholars Program at Texas Tech? It’s not really much of a back-up for TASP, considering that it’s almost as selective, but it allows you to do research in any field.

That’s just the sort of thing I’m looking for, but it overlaps with New York Regents Exams. :(

I think they might be a little flexible about your date of arrival. Try emailing Dr. San Francisco (his email address is on the Clark Scholars website here: [Texas Tech University :: Clark Scholars Program](http://www.clarkscholars.ttu.edu/)) to see if it would be possible for you to go.

Have you looked into your state’s governor’s school programs, if they have them? They are easier to get into than TASP or Clark’s, are typically state-subsidized (not Pennsylvania anymore unfortunately for those who can’t shell out 4k), and I’ve heard nothing but good things about them. Also SSP is a science program, but it’s not as crazy to get into as RSI, I’ve heard good things about that as well.

New York doesn’t have a governor’s school.

And you know, programs like RSI, TASP, Ross, SSP, Clark Scholars, etc. are really just some of the most selective and most prestigious. There are many, many others that are fascinating, a little more forgiving of a lack of amazing stats and prior research, and will give you a great experience. Use the CC search tool to try to find some lists of summer programs, maybe.
