For current students, which did you go on, how was it, and are there any that seemed to be better than others?

I went on sailing this year, and I absolutely LOVED it! You sail in a big tallship (think the Black Pearl from Pirates of the Caribbean) with a pretty crazy crew from Long Beach to Catalina Island, spend one day lounging around at Catalina, and then leisurely sail back to Long Beach. Most people sleep on deck and fall asleep looking at the stars. What's unique about sailing is that it is the most "cushy" OA - on all other OAs you have to help with cooking, pitching tents, etc. With sailing you have a cook among the crew - you get three pretty tasty meals prepared for you every day, sometimes even ferried out to you on the beach by motorboat - and there is no work for you to do at all. Basically, it's a really nice vacation. And they have kayaks and scuba gear on board so there's no lack of things to do. I strongly recommend sailing!

I also heard good things about the surfing, sea kayaking and island OAs.

D went on the Catalina Island trip and enjoyed it a great deal. Bicycling, kayaking, swimming, and hiking were just some of the activities. Plus the view was spectacular.

Because everyone gets their first or second choice, you rarely hear bad things about people's OA experiences, but I can also say that I have heard the most good things about the sailing trip, for most of the reasons that chopsticks states above.
