Best of Texas invitation

Anyone get a Best of Texas invitation for the March 28 event? My son is going.

Definitely go! It’s like Explore UT but by invitation only

My kid is going. Got the invitation in the mail yesterday.

Please share your stats and major if you got an invitation.

Oh goodness don’t start the stats game, the event is managed by multiple different people who get to invite students. It’s all majors and some might be recruiting underrepresented students and some might be targeting OOS/those less likely to come. Just have fun with it if you go.

I don’t know what they are recruiting for. The three people I know who got invites are all liberal arts majors who have been accepted into honors programs and live in San Antonio. A high achieving engineering student we know who also lives in San Antonio did not get an invite.

My son’s major is environmental science geography track. Anyone else from Enviro Sci going?

My daughter received the invitation in the mail yesterday. She will be in mechanical engineering at UT in the fall. She has a slight conflict on that date so I’m not sure she’s going yet.

My daughter was invited. OOS, Engineering Honors (Aerospace) and Plan II. Not sure she is going; we have been out of town a lot with interview weekends. Would like to know more about it before deciding. The invitation came from Cockrell.

@Longhorns061012 I like the idea of ‘less likely to come’… it makes me feel slightly better about all the private universities I applied to, haha.

I just checked the mail today and got one. Im in CS. I hope to go because it’ll give me time to go look at apartments and sign a lease.

Do you know if you are supposed to dress up for this? I lost my letter, and the confirmation email doesn’t say anything.

My son never got a hard copy invite, just the email. It did say a more detailed email with the agenda would follow. I have never seen anyone dressed up on campus unless they are having on campus interviews at McCombs. I’m sure comfortable & casual will be the dress code, unless noted.

The invitation does not specify how to dress. I was thinking no flip-flops and no t-shirts. But I think you can wear what you like so long as it is neat, clean, not revealing and not sloppy. Since there will be tours after lunch, comfortable footwear is probably a good idea.

My sister got an invite and she is got in as a chemical engineer, we are actually going to the one on the 3/25/17
