Best online individual AP courses? Apex learning vs K12?

Just wondering what the best online provider is for AP courses? I am most definitely planning on AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics and possibly AP Biology, however I would prefer not to have two separate online course transcripts.
I do NOT want the online provider to be affiliated with my school, hence individual online courses that I pay for on my own, and I myself (and the colleges of my choices) receive a transcript.
Preferably a course that is self-paced.
I was looking into FLVS however it must be approved by my high school which I am not looking to do.
The two entirely separate providers I found are APEX and K12 individual course store.

What would be the best individual course provider? Is APEX or K12 better for AP courses? Better/best, meaning, well-prepares you for the AP exam, (and hopefully does not give extra, unnecessary work). Preferably a self-paced course.

Any personal experience with any online courses as well as overall information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, My son’s high school uses APEX for some AP classes which are not part of the regular curriculum, and his experience sophomore year was excellent. The APEX course was online except for a once a week in person class. He felt well prepared, and he also studied on his own using books such as those offered by College Board and Princeton Review. Even without APEX, you can self study for AP exams, and if you don’t want/need the AP course on your high school transcript, self study using the College Board materials may be a good choice. If you want the AP score (usually a 4 or 5) in order to obtain credit or placement (which depends on the policy of the specific college/university) then self study and online works for diligent students who can “self motivate.” I’m not sure how much work you would consider too much work, but depending upon the AP course, you likely would spend several hours a week in an online AP class. The only other online courses we have used are some through edX and Johns Hopkins CTY. (The latter is rigorous, in my view, and also requires a placement test to participate.) Hope this information helps you.

@perseverance1 thank you for that information. By a lot of work I mean unnecessary work. Meaning, the school provides an overabundance of information not needed for the test and/or has unnecessary games and activities that can be considered a complete waste of time, rather than just information. Also, is APEX self-paced?
