Best pharmacy school?

University of Pacific?
UC SD?
ANy others?

Discuss.

Well, my dad went to the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) pharmacy school. I'm not sure how good of a pharmacy school it is, but I just wanted to throw in my two cents. :)

Thanks!!!!

Anyone that accepts you.

unc and michigan i believe are both very good. one of them ...

rutgers is quite reputable as well

Any good ones in California?

California has USC (mine), UOP, UCSF-the originals. UCSD, Loma Linda and Western are newer. Loma Linda has had it's first graduating class and should be accredited this year-I have been impressed with their students. UCSD gave 200 interviews, the admissions person I spoke with said everyone of them was qualified, the class is 30 0r 40 (forget). Tuoro (sp) is new and apparently there is a new one near Sacramento.
A few years back I met a dean from another state. It is very difficult to get faculty, most can make more just being a pharmacist. If professors are at a premium, I wonder how the new schools are able to attract them. You can check the board pass rate on the web. I would expect the rate to be higher now that CA uses NAPLEX rather than their own board.
I am in CA, the new grads I work with are from CA but went out of state-easier to get in. Right now the shortage is so severe that all you need is a license.

University of Pittsburgh!

USN's methodology on this is entirely based on hearsay. Their top three are UCSF, UT Austin, and UNC Chapel Hill.

The best pharmacy school is the one that is the cheapest. Seriously. Those rankings are a pile of horse dung. Research money appears to be what they are most based upon. Your best bet is typically the big state school on the East Coast. Say Ohio State, Pitt, Kentucky, North Carolina, Florida, WVU, South Carolina, etc, etc. I couldn't tell you a thing about the west coast. Don't run into too many folks from out there in my neck of the woods.

Research money has nothing to do with their pharmacy school rankings, although I can't say that the actual criteria used are any better: they assembled some people in the field and asked them to name some famous schools.
