i'm an incoming freshman in engineering, and i'm wondering where the best place is to study and get work done. would it be in the libraries, dorm room, study lounge, or somewhere else? are there any other good places to work that i didn't mention?

Libraries is a good place to get work done. Least likely to be distracted.

That’s your own personal preference. I never bothered with libraries because I didn’t like the idea of being in that environment with other folks. Meanwhile, I usually did a lot of my work in some lounge away from my room.

Why not in your room, Islander? Seems like it should be quiet (roommate would understand, wouldn’t he/she?).

it’s completely your personal preference, but I absolutely cannot do quality work in my room. I try and try and try, but it’s so distracting. You have your bed there and you can always find something to do to waste time (oh, that laundry’s been sitting there for a week; I should go ahead and get it done…you know, I haven’t organized my desk drawers since last semester…OHMYGODSLEEEEEEEEP…hmmm, maybe a shower would help wake me up…Oh, someone just sent me a link to nyan cat; I think I’ll have a listen! …I could go on :p) instead of whatever it is you’re supposed to be doing. I personally like studying in lounges. They’re closer than the libraries, usually have comfortable seating, and are less distracting than my room.
