I’m currently at LCC and transferring to MSU in the fall, I like partying but also wanna do well in school too. What is the best dorm to live in and make the most friends?
If you want the best food, live in Brody or SnyPhi.
If you want to hang out with jocks, move to the South neighborhood (Case, Wonders, Wilson).
Honestly, I would choose to live based on your major. If you want to party, you likely won’t be doing most of it in the dorms. If you are in social science or humanities, stay further north. STEM, south.
Brody has the nicest facilities, so I would say that is the best place to make friends.
Do you by chance know hen you get to select your housing with the hall and type of room and all?
Is it May 1st/2nd?
As far as friends go, probably Brody neighborhood or Shaw Hall. Brody is a tight knit community made up of 6 halls and in the early fall gets pretty crazy, everyone leaves their doors open and makes conversation. Shaw is a bunch of people living within one hall and an inclusive cafeteria that is really good so it’s also a good way to meet people, just off of my experiences visiting there probably 50+ times this year with friends lol.
Also, if you don’t mind me asking: what were your credentials when you were accepted and what major? Asking because im currently in the transfer process and am very anxious. I have a 3.2 and have to report spring grades in like 4 days. Would love the feedback so i can compare and know what to expect. Thanks!
I have a 3.0 GPA and about 40 transferable credits. I applied back in January and got a response in a week so I its pretty easy to get in and with a 3.2 you should definitely be able to get in.
Oh awesome! The applicant pool must not be too insanely competitive this year. I’ve heard of people with 3.3’s getting denied in previous years. That’s great, Congrats btw hope to see ya there
@JP0204 If you already signed your housing contract, you will get an email sent to your spartan email on May 2nd notifying you of the random date/time when you get to choose building/floor/room/roommate. If you already know who you are rooming with, you should coordinate with them in case they get an earlier date/time so they pick the building/floor/room and add you as a roommate since earlier means more choices.
EDIT: This is the video they sent out a couple days ago that should answer any questions about the room selection process.
