Best Pre-College Summer Program Summer 2012

I am currently a junior in high school and I am looking for a pre-college summer program to attend this summer.
My requirements:
I want a school that offers a graphic design program that is intense (That's my major)
I want to build my portfolio
Under $6000
Not only a good academic experience but a social one
I would prefer one in a city

So far I have looked at MICA, SVA, and SCAI. I heard horror stories about AIB so that one is out. I would absolutely love some feedback from anyone who has attended any of these or any others. Thank you so much!

I meant summer 2013 by the way

you may want to check out CMU ?

Went to RISD Pre-college. It was intense enough and a great experience. I’d check it out.

Ringling has a four week program that I know people have loved. My dd did SAIC and loved it. I don’t know about graphic design. The interesting thing about SAIC is that you take only one class and there are two sessions, one is 3 weeks and the other 2. You can do either or both sessions. Tyler School of Art has a good portfolio bootcamp summer program. I think it is a week or two, so can be a little more reasonable. MICA program is also good. My dd had friends that went there and felt it was useful.

I looked at Ringling, it looks amazing! Do you know what the basic schedule for students? Or any additional information I should know? Thank you so much!

Try California College of Arts. My old friend is on faculty there and says it’s a great program for pre-college kids.

Unfortunately, I don’t my dd did not do that program, but goes to Ringling now. You should not feel uncomfortable calling the office that handles the summer program and asking any questions that you have. In general, the people at Ringling are really nice. And, frankly, the people at all the summer programs my dd and I spoke with were very helpful. I do know that there are people at school this year that attended the Ringling program and loved it enough to come back to school there.
