JHU at Pre-Med is usually listed as one of the top 3 pre-med programs in the country. The pre-med advising committee is headed by people who use to be deans at the Hopkins Medical School (admissions committee, etc.) and if you can succeed and do well at JHU Pre-Med, there is no door that will be closed.

With that said, Hopkins has a very challenging and rigorous academic program. They also have some of the best undergrad research and interning opportunities available with many students starting research as early as freshman year or the summer before freshman year at places like the Hopkins Hospital, the Hopkins Medical School, or on the undergrad campus with esteemed professors.

Hopkins has a reputation for cutthroatness/lack-of-fun, but generally, the students at Hopkins enjoy and love their educational experience. The only ones who generally feel Hopkins is miserable are the ones who are miserable to begin with and are way to anal about grades and studying. however, I can guarantee you that the vast majority of Hopkins’ students have a great time at JHU, and is perhaps our best kept secret ;)

another advantage is the Hopkins Pre-Med Advisory Committee’s Letter on behalf of you.
The HOpkins committee writes a 9-15 page letter for each candidate to medical schools after asking you to write personal essays and interview exclusively with them first, and in doing so, put the full weight of the hopkins name behind you as a pre-med student. It’s pretty special and well-regarded.
