Best precollege program??

I'm a junior deciding which summer program would provide the BEST art education so that I can strengthen my skills. I'm mainly interested in drawing and painting.

I'm not going to go to an art school for college but I will definetly continue it at whatever university I end up at.

Art Institute of Chicago....Parsons... any suggestions?
Does anyone know anything about the School of Art at Washington U St Louis?

How selective are these precollege programs?

I went to MICA's precollege program which was AMAZING. The art (painting, drawing) I'm producing now is so much better than anything I did before. The thing is at MICA you work in the studio (different classes)at least 8 hours a day and so you get connected to the process subconciously...
Apparently MICA rejects people for its pre-college program ... too many people apply so good applicants CAN be rejected.

I too like you am just going to a university (where... I don't yet know). Precollege programs for art are great because they give you a feel for art school which trust me, is totally different than a uni.

Wash. U's summer program was new last year. I hear they have full time faculty teaching in that summer program. If you want to get a feel for Wash U. as a possible college choice, I might suggest that program. Otherwise, my d. went to Art Institute School of Chicago's summer program last summer and loved it. The work she produced there was very strong and became the backbone of her portfolio.
