essays: strong essays and recommendations

I'm really thinking of applying to UCs and a lot of good privates with good science programs. My favorite is stanford. do u think i can get in if i take another SAT 2? can u please give me insight into strong premed schools as well? thanks.

I would really appreciate any help. Thank you! God bless.

Probably UCSD; I doubt Stanford. No one can say for certain though.

To be more certain about UCSD, just plug your stats into their formula that they use to determine admission. The threshold for admission is usually about 7500 points, I think. UCSD doesn't really care about essays.

On another note, what's the deal with national honor society? Does it serve any purpose? At my school, people just paid $5 to add a line to their resume which is just stupid.

definately ucsd. i dont know anything about stanford admissions. i honestly have never met anyone that goes to or got accepted into stanford, but your stats are extremely impressive. you are sure to get into at least one good school if not all.

you're probably not getting into stanford. i know dozens of people who are going there/are there/have graduated from there, and they all have what would now be the equivalent of 2250+ SAT score, unless their parents wrote a big check to them (or have a building named after them). But higher than 2250 won't get you in either--my friends got rejected with 2380s and 2320s; you have to have something really, really special that only you, or maybe 2-3 others in the whole state of CA, have (the second fastest girl in CA got accepted on a full scholarship one year). But even those with parents who can write out million dollar checks aren't complete idiots either; their SATs are at least 2100 and their GPAs are about 4.1 weighted.

oh, or they have a connection, whether by legacy or association with Stanford (professor, doctor at the School of Medicine, your dad is the president of Yahoo or Google, which were both started by Stanford grads), which is how other friends got in.

sorry, i'm a little bitter because i didn't get in over less qualified, but more connected classmates...
