I'm planning on majoring in biology and I was wondering which public Virginia school has the best premed + biology program. I know that UVa and William and Mary are highly ranked but it doesn't necessarily mean they have the best premed programs.

William and Mary
UVa
Virginia Tech
JMU
GMU
VCU
ODU

Having sat on an admission committee at a med school in Va. I will say that it is more important to go where you want and just do well. The school is not as important as your grades and what you accomplish while you are in college, in and out of the class.

I won’t comment on the rankings, since I go to JMU and will be biased… haha
But, homeschooldad58 is absolutely right… go where you’ll be happiest and where you will enjoy living… not where you think is more highly ranked.
I had the opportunity to attend one of the highly ranked schools, but I knew I would be happier at JMU and I am 100% confident that I made the right choice!

My dad went to VCU and is really enthusiastic about his experience there. He got plenty of hands on experience that involved realistic scenarios that he might one day see in the office, not weird medical cases like you might get at a big school. He was matched with University of Wisconsin Madison for residency.
