Where would I get the best education? Which one is the most prestigious? Which one is the best for a premed student; lastly which one has the best job placement, connections, and salary. I ask all these questions because I don't know where to go next year. I know VCU has a med school so that would a smart choice, but William and Mary is ranked much higher and is considered a "public ivy." William and Mary also has a higher med school placement but I fear the overbearing course-load there would lower my gpa and thus I would be better off at VCU. I'm not scared to work hard, I just don't want to work hard for no avail.

Bump 10 char

Pick the school where you feel most comfortable. I think I would choose W&M, but that’s just me.

I too would choose W&M, but that is because I don’t want to be pre-med. VCU is ranked lower, but I know that their sciences, specifically programs centered around pre-med, are amazing. For pre-med, I would probably choose VCU.

If you decide that premed isn’t for you, as the vast majority of entering premeds end up doing, which would you prefer?

@whenhen if that were the case then it would probably be William and Mary considering how it bests VCU at almost every other major

So choose W&M. After your first year you’ll know if you can be premed or not. If so, it won’t hurt you to be at W&M. If not, it’ll help you to be there.

Why you stop at w&m? If you think you are qualified at w&m you could reach VU and it’s a great school as well.

william and mary is easily best

“william and mary is easily best” Highest ranked and a great school. May or may not be the best place for this particular person. Very different than a school like Virginia Tech in terms of vibe. Virginia Tech has excellent job placement, connections, and alumni loyalty.

Based on the information you have provided, my vote is to “The College of William & Mary”.
If you can afford it, then go for it.
Best of luck to you.

I’m not sure why this is even a question. VCU and Virginia Tech are comparable schools. William and Mary, though, is WAY above Virginia Tech and VCU. If you were considering UNC Chapel Hill and William and Mary, you’d be comparing schools in the same class. If you’re concerned about opportunities your choice of school will bring, choose William and Mary. If you are only interested in going undergrad and then getting a job, go to Tech or VCU. If you were accepted at William and Mary, you probably applied to VCU Honors College. The only way I’d consider VCU would be the Honors College. VCU’s big, but that doesn’t make them excellent. They’ll be late providing your financial aid information and they don’t take their reputation seriously. If you’re serious about your education and if you study and don’t rest on the laurels you earned in high school, you’ll do allright at W&M.
