Best prep books for bio and chem?

Hey~ What prep books do you suggest i get to study for SAT Subject Bio and Chem? I'm taking it in May with AP Bio and AP Chem exams shortly afterwards so i would have studied for those by then. I kind of want to take another non science/mathematic subject test. Would Literature or US History be easier to study for and what prep books should i get? Thnx XD

For bio, in my opinion...
PR does a good job explaining the topics
Kaplan also does a good job explaining, but tends to be a little verbose
Sparknotes is okay, but I occasionally found wrong information in the book... not recommended.
Barrons is a bit of overkill - a lot of unnecessary information. This is good if u r aiming for 800.
For me, combination of PR+Kaplan with some reviews with Barrons worked pretty well - got 760. But the freshman bio was the only bio class I've ever had... if u r taking AP bio, then u should be able to get 800 relatively easily.

I don't know much about chem prep books... I didn't use any prep books, I just took SAT chem the weekend b4 my AP Chem exam and got 800. I think u can expect something similar, but if want to play it safe, any one of PR/Kaplan/Barrons should be fine.

For non science/math test, I'd recommend US History. I've heard that Lit test can be pretty nasty at times (One of my friends actually saw a guy crying his eyes out after taking the Lit test...)

Yea, unless you're really strong at lit, one tricky poem could really throw you off in the sat ii lit. U.S. History is the best choice especially if you're taking AP. U.S. History or something of that nature.

I am studying for Biology with Barron's and I'm really satisfied. When I do practice questions I usually get them right. This book is very long but it will surely give you a high grade. (I'm also taking my Subject tests on May!!! Good luck!!!)

For bio, I recommend Kaplan and PR. For chemistry, I recommend Barrons.

Kaplan for Bio, PR for Chem.
