A few thoughts: No surprise Exeter, Andover & St. Paul’s head the pack. I can see Thatcher being top 10, but why is Cate 48? Also, there are some younger schools making great recognition traction, such as Verde Valley School (VVS) that is one of the few world prep boarding schools with a unique International Baccalaureate degree that ranked #15 out of over 300 boarding schools.
Just looked at the list. It’s absurd in almost every way. As always, the best boarding school is the one that is the best fit for you! That being said, this list has no legitimacy at all…if any of them do.
Yes, there are anomalies on many of these “Best Boarding School” lists and this demonstrates inherent weakness in rankings. Indeed, Groton should be way up there, so should Choate which is #12 & Hotchkiss at #31. However, the list also identifies “up-&-comers” that are highly ranked that have more favorable chances of admittance. Hence, potential prep students should consider backup schools that offer a higher acceptance rate.
