I know that I want to go into the mechanical aspects of aerospace engineering. But, should I get a bachelors in AE and a masters in MechE, or vice versa? Currently, I'm leaning towards the first option, since I find AE to be a more interesting topic for study than MechE alone, so it will be easier to get better grades in undergrad.

think of it like a pyramid; you want a strong base and a high peak.

you must start with a broad, sturdy base.

whatever that is to you, do it.

Usually a MechE BS and ASE masters will give you a large degree of flexibility but you mentioned that you inherently have an interest in ASE. I feel that if you are better equipped to make good grades in ASE, it might be better to stick with it for your BS and find research positions or internships to help secure a place in your niche field.
