Best schools in Texas?

What would you rank as among the top in Texas?

riceakldsj;flksajdf

definitely rice, though i hear that UT is good too

Rice is generally considered the best undergraduate university in Texas, followed by UT.

Rice
UT Austin
Baylor
Texas A&M

Unlike California, Texas does not really have an all-around outstanding comprehensive research university on the level of Stanford and Berkeley. That being said, Texas does have some very solid institutions and at least 5 internationally prominent institutions - Rice, UT-Austin, Texas A&M, UT Southwestern Medical School (grad only), and Baylor College of Medicine (grad only). Rice is highly selective and excellent at the undergraduate level and also has some strong graduate programs/departments. Texas A&M is rapidly improving its undergrad reputation and has some very strong graduate programs. However, UT-Austin is the closest Texas has to a school the caliber of a Berkeley or Stanford. That is because UT is the only Texas institution with the combination of world-class caliber faculty, internationally recognized graduate and professional programs, and world class libraries, museums, and performing arts spaces. Nearly all of UT's academic departments are ranked at least in the top 20 nationwide, with many in the top 10. In terms of faculty, UT-Austin has a substantial number of NAS and NAE members for a university without a medical school. UT's academic library collection is the 6th largest in North America (5th not counting Toronto). The Ransom Humanities Research Center is one of the world's greatest cultural archives, with literally millions or rare and priceless books, manuscripts, and art. UT's performing arts complex is one of the largest, if not the largest, performing arts complexes on any American campus. UT's Blanton Art Museum is the largest university art museum in the country. Finally, while not as selective as Rice, UT has very strong undergraduate programs, and is in fact even tied with Rice in terms of undergraduate peer reputation rank (both 4.1, according to USNWR). So it is probably correct to say that Rice is the best university for undergraduates in Texas, while UT-Austin is the best comprehensive research university.

i think in a couple of year UT austin will be at the same level as UC berkeley...
