Which schools have the best international relations or international studies programs??

Georgetown, UVA, Tufts, Columbia

Tufts, Georgetown, UVA, and Columbia are amazing. Other schools to consider (depending on your stats) are:

NYU (not too far from the U.N.)
George Washington
Boston U (I believe that one of the professors is a former ambassador)
Northeastern (amazing international internship program, plus the international business porgram is ranked in the top 20 by U.S. News)
American University (great location in D.C.)

George Washington, John Hopkins, georgetown

I don't think that NYU has this major, but I could be wrong

As others said before, Tufts is known for it's phenomenal IR program. Additionally, you should try city schools, as they are often right in the middle of things; GW, NYU, BU.

Good luck!

Are there any schools with good IR programs that are good that arent right in the middle of a city? I'm looking for somewhere that actually has a campus and sense of community, as opposed to somewhere like NYU. Also, what about McGill? I know that is in a city, but does anyone know if it has a good IR program?

Tufts is outside of Boston and has a beautiful campus and a wonderful sense of
community from what I've seen. The proximity to Boston is a plus when you want
a change of scenery.

I certainly plan to look into Tufts. Any other places i should look into?

American, Boston University, northeastern

Though Columbia is in NYC, it does have a campus (unlike NYU). Georgetown like Columbia has a campus though it's in D.C. UVA has a beautiful campus. Because not too far from D.C., plenty of government leaders and diplomats come to Grounds to attend events and speak.

yeah DEF TUFTS!!!
we just had a rep come and visit our school.

John Hopkins!!!!!!!!!

Is Chicago's IR program good?? How does it compare to GTown, JHU, Tufts, etc.
Also, what about MIddlebury?

I'm wondering the same thing about Chicago

bump...........

Stanford, UC Berkeley, and UC San Diego have top-notch IR departments. In addition, the University of San Diego (USD) and the University of Washington have good IR departments.

okay so i'm officially confused about admission standards bc answers vary from place to place. These are my stats:

Illinois resident
asian-indian
g.p.a.- 3.75(weighted) 3.49(unweighted)
act- 27
sat- verbal 670 math 580 (1250)
top 19% @ a pretty competitive school
4 years on tennis team
2 years in business club
2 years drug prevention club
work experience

I was wondering what my chances are at D.C. schools such as American and George Washington? Also other schools close by such as Richmond, University of Maryland, and University of Delaware?
If anyone who goes there or who knows accurate stats for these schools could help me to figure out what my chances are? oh, and if anyone knows about uiuc, that'd be great! If there doesn't seem to be much hope, are there any good affordable schools that have a good international relations program that i have a good chance at?
THanks!

I'm doing Int. Relations/ Spanish and I'm applying to UNC Chapel Hill, UGA (in-state), WUSTL, UMiami, Tulane, and GW. Although most of these schools aren't traditionally known for their Int. Relations programs, they're still good schools. Secondly, I can't afford to go to GTown (i'm right in the bracket where I can't pay 40k a year but my parents earn too much to get sufficient finaid), and don't want to go to jesuit school. I'm also afraid of snow, so I'm trying to stay in the south.

UPENN -Huntsman

Chicago has really good Political Science/International Relations Department. McGill i dont know how it ranks in IR but all I know it has a lot of red tape, minimum Sat is 1230.
