I plan on doing engineering, but which top 30 schools are looking to increase diversity/get more hispanics.
I’m sure a lot of them wouldn’t mind, but you should make your reach/match/safety assessments without considering any effect of race/ethnicity, since most people tend to overestimate that effect. Also, you need to talk to your parents about the cost constraints, since admission to a school that is too expensive is the same as a rejection.
It certainly help but would not do miracle. It still depends on your credential as there are plenty of highly qualified hispanic applicants too.
Being Hispanic will not help you as much nowadays with so many high-stat Hispanic applicants.
I would assume places where there isn’t a huge Hispanic population so schools on the East Coast.
Schools like Stanford probably don’t give Hispanics that much of a boost since there are so many qualified Hispanics in California.
Also, keep in mind many top engineering programs do not consider race in the application process (Caltech, UCB, U Mich etc.)
Harvey Mudd has a fall program called FAST: " The Future Achievers in Science and Technology (FAST) Program is an opportunity for high school seniors from populations that are traditionally underrepresented in math and science—including women, students of color and those who will be among the first in their families to attend a four-year college—to experience Harvey Mudd." Deadline to apply is August 24. https://www.hmc.edu/admission/fast/fall-fast-program-seniors/.
