I have been wanting to study in France FOREVER and am going to major in French language and cultural studies in college. I want to find a school that not only has a great program here, but a fabulous study abroad one in France too (either Paris or Provence, my two favorite parts of France).

Has anyone else researched this yet and found some great programs? I prefer East Coast or West Coast schools, or at least some place that isn't frigid or in the boonies.

I know that NYU has a fantastic study abroad program. I hear that a lot of students from NYU participate in study abroad programs. My cousin attends NYU, and went to France for a year. All I can say is that she came back fluent..lol

Many U.S. schools use CUPA - Study Abroad in Paris for their French immersion. Our D was there a year ago for a semester and loved it, and got full credit at her home college.

Hi! I am a senior at the Univerisity of West Georgia and in my second year of college I studied abroad in Stockholm, Sweden. I used an exchange program called ISEP which is short for International Student Exchange Program. I believe that schools all across the US use this program. You can visit their website at ISEP: International Student Exchange Programs. The cost was the same as paying to go to my school in Georgia and I got my own apartment in Stockholm. Other costs to think about are plane tickets, transportation while there, and phone costs for calling home. I would encourage you to try and live somewhere for at least for a semester! It is a lot of fun and just an overall good experience.

A friend of mine goes to Colby, and she was able to go to France first semester of her freshman year! I don't really know the details, but it may be something you might want to look into

Tufts has a campus at Talloires which is supposed to be amazing. Plus, no credit transfer or distribution hassles, and I think aid is portable for that.
