I'm taking Macro this semester but I'm also thinking about studying for and taking the Micro exam. Is this a good idea? How much overlap is there between the two and what's the best book to study from?

Someone suggests Princeton Review only, but others say PR and Barrons

I’m self-studying for Micro, and I hear that 5 Steps to a 5 covers both topics well.

There is some overlap between the two regarding basic concepts, such as supply and demand, etc., but they are two independent topics in their own right. I would recommend 5 Steps to a 5 as it is written in a very readable way and sufficiently covers all the topics that you will be tested for.
