Best SUNY for Social Work/Psychology? Bing, Albany, or Stony??

Well, I'm interested in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, etc (and maybe philosophy). I want to work with people and learn more about them. I've considered Bing, Albany, and Stony but I don't know which one suits my interests best.

I heard Albany's Social Welfare (basically social work) program is #17 in the country and #2 in faculty. I also heard that Stony is really good in sciences, so would that include psychology? And I am also interested in Bing because it seems to be the best SUNY.

I don't really know which one best fits me, so please give me your opinions. I can apply to all three, but if I decide on one particular SUNY now, I can reduce the costs of my application fees and I can get a head start on checking out that SUNY and researching it.

So please give some feedback!!

I have heard very good things about the Psychology program at Geneseo, don’t know if that is the type of atmosphere you are looking for or if you have the stats.

re binghamton – you may wnat to look into their human development program in their college of community and public affairs. [Binghamton University - Academic: Schools and Colleges: College of Community and Public Affairs](http://www2.binghamton.edu/ccpa/human-development/index.html) the human development program is the only undergrad program offered by ccpa – it also offers a masters in social work.

but you should also look at binghamton’s psychology program – it has an excellent reputation – [Binghamton University - Academics: Schools and Colleges: Harpur College of Arts and Sciences: Degree Programs: Psychology: Undergraduate Program](http://www2.binghamton.edu/psychology/undergraduate/) they offer a major track in applied behavioral analysis which is something you may not find elsewhere. [Binghamton University - Academics: Schools and Colleges: Harpur College of Arts and Sciences: Degree Programs: Psychology: Undergraduate: Applied Behavior Analysis](http://www2.binghamton.edu/psychology/undergraduate/applied-behavior-analysis.html)

you should consider which of these might appeal to you more since they are in different colleges within binghamton (psych is in harpur) and may affect how you choose to apply.

checking out and researching is fine – but its better to do that for more schools to help you decide how to narrow your list, rather than narrowing your list first. and your comment about reducing your cost of application fees also concerns me. the sunys are getting increasingly competitive to get into – binghamton especially – so even if you decide which program you think you prefer, it may not be a safe idea to cross the others off your application list.
