I got accepted to Oneonta, Buffalo State, and Potsdam. Is there a certain Suny school that has a history program that stands out from all the others?

I would say Oneonta is the best out of those three. Have you contacted any faculty members yet? It may help you to make a decision if you have idea of the size and focus of each school’s department.

Also, take a look at the course listings, this gives you a good idea of the depth of the program.

would it be a good idea for me just to choose which school has a better reputation, being Oneonta?

I agree with Vahevala about checking course listings. Also, I recommend looking at past schedules to see how often courses are offered. Make sure the courses you need and want to take are offered often enough.

Justin - I think Oneonta is a fine school. I personally prefer its academic rigor and location. That’s not to say you wouldn’t receive a great education from Potsdam! If I were you, I would see which school fits your needs best. In your case, difference in reputation isn’t as important as fit/rigor IMO.

I think Oneonta is the best choice. But as always, you need to find the best “fit” for you.

I think Oneonta has the best “rankings” and has a very good looking campus. Its history department is top notch. It also offers a lot of scholarships for a variety of accomplishments.
