I'd really like to go to school for history. My counselor has been totally unhelpful. So far, I've applied to Albany, Binghamton, Oswego, and Cortland. Do any of these have particularly good history and/or language programs? And what do you think about the schools? Other suggestions? Thank you!

History is one of my majors at Binghamton and I love it! There are very few specific requirements as far as classes you need to take, so you have a lot of options in exploring what you want. In other words, you don’t need to take classes that don’t interest you and you’re able to take only classes that DO interest you. You need ten classes for the major. One must involve US history, one European history, one “Other” area (Egypt, Africa, Asia, etc), and one International history (any course involving more than one nation). There’s tons of options for each of these requirements and you’re left with at least six classes to do whatever you want with.

As far as the classes themselves I think they’re really interesting and there’s an incredible variety of things they offer.
