Best time of year for a prospective MIT transfer student to apply?

I just saw this on the MIT Admissions site:

“Over the last several years out of 35-50 who apply for the spring term, we’ve admitted from 0-5; for the fall term out of 400-500 applicants we’ve admitted anywhere from 15-20.”

I’ve read on other sites that the best time for a transfer to apply is to transfer in for the SPRING semester. Given this information, it sounds like a transfer student would be best off applying to transfer in for the FALL semester.

Do you guys agree with my logic here… or know when the best time for a transfer to apply to MIT is? I know the odds aren’t great any time of year… but I’d rather my odds be 15-20 than 0-5.

Then again it looks like if I applied for the Spring term, the admissions officer would take a more intimate look at my application because there are less total applications to go through. Do you guys agree with my logic with this statement?

Any advice or comments would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
