Best time to take SAT and ACT

I'm currently a sophomore, but I want to take the SAT and ACT once before it actually counts in Junior year. I just want to know how well I'll do on the real test, and also many summer programs I want to apply to require me to send in these scores.

Is it bad to take it before Junior year, and can colleges see how many times you have taken the SAT and ACT? And if so, can they also see if you used scorechoice and does that look bad as well?

And also, what are some good prep books to prepare for these tests?

is it bad? no
can colleges see it? yes, so most i recommend in total is 3
can they see superscoring/scorechoice? yes.

superscoring all depends on which college you want to go to, and some accept superscore, while others do not.
ALL SAT tests taken in high school count towards the “3 count”
If you want to apply to high-tier colleges like the Ivy’s, if you start taking more than 3 tests, they start averaging ALL the scores, so 3 at max is recommended.
I did take a SAT test in 9th grade for some reason (i dont remember) and i got a 1820…
