When to take the SAT

When is the best time to take the SAT?

I'm in 10th grade and have barely done anything to prep for it. WHat should I do?

Don’t take it until you have prepped for it. Get a copy of the College Board Blue Book and just practice the questions. Look up the answers, so you know why you got some wrong. Retake the questions you got wrong over and over until you continually get them correct.

If you prep early enough, take the SAT in your junior year, so you won’t have as much pressure on you. If you wait until the fall of your senior year - it becomes a truly high stakes test. Best of luck.

is it a bad thing to retake the SAT if you do not get your desired score?

It is fine to retake the SAT. Many people do that and most colleges superscore your results (considering only our top scores from each subsection). The admissions websites of the schools where you want to apply will usually explain their policies about superscoring.

sooo there is a possibility of it being a bad thing…?
