Best time to take the SAT?

I'm a rising junior, and I was wondering if it's better to take the SAT sooner or later throughout junior year. I have plenty of time to study for it this summer, so I feel like I could be ready for it in October, but do you think the benefit of nearly a year of school would help?

I haven't really considered the fact that I can take it multiple times, so should I just go for the October one and see if I reach my goal (2300+)?

As a rising senior, I regret taking the test as a senior in October. You should start and register early.

Take the PSAT in October, it’s the only way to qualify for some of those National Merit scholarships. You could have your results from the PSAT to help you prep for the SAT. I think you should then take the SAT in January or March, and I would recommend taking the ACT before May as well. That means you could then do a retake of both or either in June, and possibly be done before your senior year.

Take test in October and see how you do. Then practice and take it again in June. If you still need to improve retake it again as a senior

I say take the test once in November, and then once in May. Hopefully, twice should do it.

I’m a rising senior and I REALLY regret not taking them in January. I had midterms that same week, so I wanted to focus on them, but then I got screwed over in May. I had my cousin’s First Holy Communion to go to, so I didn’t take the May SAT. I took them for the 2nd time in June, and I’m really hoping I won’t have to take them a third time. I wish I started sooner because I still have to take SAT IIs.

My plan’s to get it done with end of sophomore year (SAT’s). Then retake during Jr. year as necessary.
SAT II’s for Chem and USH next year as I take them.

Take it when you score consistently in your target range of 2300+.
